Summary:

Under the direction of the Vice President of Human Resources, the Corporate Training & Development Manager will be responsible for leading and overseeing all training and development activities at Mircom, for both our customers and staff. This role will help Mircom build a learning culture and support high performance with our teams and customers. The position requires the Manager to work collaboratively with multiple groups, including Product Management, Applications Group, Engineering, Customer Services and Human Resources. The T&D Manager will be responsible for developing, updating, planning, and implementing training and development programs that meet business requirements and customer expectations. The T&D Manager will ensure all training and development programs are developed or purchased in a cost-effective manner, assessing the return on investment of all programs to ensure maximum benefit to employees and the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consult with the executive/leadership team to establish priorities; identify and assess current and future training and development needs of the organization
  • Develop, implement, and monitor training programs organization-wide
  • Evaluate instructors’ performances and effectiveness of training programs delivered; drive continuous improvement
  • Develop and organize training manuals and educational materials for users. Collaborate with the Technical Leads and Subject Matter Experts to develop content for training materials.
  • Identify the most effective delivery methods & learning technologies
  • Evaluate outsourced training options to determine the best decision for Mircom
  • Project manage the training programs and interface with internal/external partners to achieve objectives.
  • Oversee and coach the T&D Team to become leaders within their market segments, and establish yearly and quarterly objectives and hold them accountable to these
  • Train subject matter experts in techniques and skills for training employees/customers
  • Ensure consistent and effective delivery of programs across the company.
  • Develop annual budgets and plans for the training department
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in the field of training and development by attending seminars, workshops, webinars, etc. for continuous learning opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements and Skills: 

  • Degree/Diploma in Electronics, Communications, Engineering, Business or a related field
  • 5-7 years’ relevant experience in Training & Development
  • Previous experience in content development and delivery of corporate training programs
  • Demonstrated success in delivering training to sales professionals and technicians
  • Extensive people management skills, including management of T&D professionals
  • Ability to travel frequently
  • Excellent project management, organizational and time management skills as multiple programs and initiatives run at the same time
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Have working knowledge of e-learning principles and practices, and some experience working with corporate intranets and learning management systems
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
  • Experience dealing with third parties, consultants, and training specialists
  • Proven ability to implement and manage T&D budgets
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in developing/providing Technical Sales or Operations Training in the life safety, security, or building automation sector
