Summary:

Reporting to the VP of Marketing, the Marketing Communications Specialist will take the lead on writing copy for a variety of marketing tools and opportunities for Public Relations. As a key member of the Marketing Communications Team, the successful candidate will interact regularly with subject matter experts, senior leadership and possibly customers. The role requires excellent verbal and written skills, creativity and a “can do” attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Confirm and deliver on personal priorities, in alignment with Corporate and Department goals
  • Continuously research and analyze past communication campaigns, competitor’s campaigns, sales reports, google analytics, industry trends and best practices to determine the most effective methods of communicating to the intended audience(s)
  • Determine and/or confirm the goals of each Marketing pieces before planning & execution
  • Interview subject matter experts to compile material for copy
  • Generate written content, edit and proofread documents/media targeting both internal (employees, sales team, technicians) and external (prospects, customers and general marketplace) audiences. This includes but is not limited to: company announcements, product bulletins, intranet messaging, social media, internal e-zines/newsletters, print ads and other sales collateral, customer email blasts, case studies, blogs, testimonials, whitepapers, press releases and direct mailers.
  • Maximize PR opportunities within the Fire, Life Safety, Security and Communications industry
  • Assist with the creation and execution of an integrated social media strategy
  • Lead the development of a Marketing Communications Plan and assist with budgeting
  • Fashion a variety of ideas and proposals in order to market goods and services more effectively
  • Assist with other Marketing projects as required

Requirements and Skills: 

  • 2+ years of experience in copywriting, public relations or advertising
  • University Degree, preferably in Business
  • Very Strong written communication skills
  • Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues and third parties.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Visio).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve a common goal.
  • Ability to write clear, concise reports and documentation.
  • Strong oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to eliminate obstacles through creativity and adaptability
