Summary:

The Warehouse and Logistics Leader will be responsible for developing and implementing the Mircom global logistics strategy while adopting a lean and data driven approach aimed at optimizing customer experience and maximizing operational cost-efficiency. The ideal candidate demonstrates great leadership and has a proven track record for developing innovative logistics solutions to service evolving customer needs in the life safety and security industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of continuous improvement activities using the philosophies and tools of Lean, Six Sigma and other continuous improvement techniques to improve the end to end customer order execution, eliminate waste, and reduce overall operational expense
  • Lead, teach and mentor associates in good process design for flow. Plan, coordinate, and direct Lean workshops and Continuous Improvement activities across all areas
  • Shape the vision for future Mircom global logistics that delivers a truly world-class customer experience. Develop and implement a warehouse and logistics strategy to implement that vision
  • Analyze all aspects of corporate logistics to deliver a truly world-class customer experience and determine the most cost-effective and efficient means to deliver that vision
  • Maintain contact with both internal and external customers to ensure their expectations are clarified, understood and met
  • Work with all business partners in the value stream to identify and implement lean processes
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements
  • Lead a multi-site team of warehouse professionals and inspire them to new levels of performance
  • Monitor supplier and carrier performances to maximize supply chain efficiency and sustainability
  • Lead new carrier selection and review process
  • Ensure carrier compliance with company policies and procedures for product transit and delivery
  • Foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement in all areas and instill the principles of this culture within logistics and throughout the impacted departments
  • Identify new or improved technology solutions such as automated systems and EDI

Requirements and Skills: 

  • MBA and Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (P.Log, CPIM, CSCP, CITT…)
  • A minimum of 5 years team management experience
  • Thorough understanding of international shipping / customs documentation for import and export
  • Advanced knowledge of logistics related and reporting software
  • Track record of executing high-value, highly strategic international operational / logistics projects
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent understanding of continuous improvement concepts including Six Sigma, Lean, value stream mapping required
  • Ability to set-up, facilitate and lead service improvement sessions with a range of business stakeholders (incl. Experience of process/value stream mapping) required
  • Record of successful distribution and logistics performance improvement
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects
  • Highly analytical and customer focused
  • Ability to simplify complexity
  • Demonstrated ability to interface and negotiate with global vendors
  • Superior organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and excel under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a natural ability to build relationships
