Summary:

Reporting to the HR Manager, the Payroll & Benefits Administrator is responsible for a wide range of processing activities to support the multi provincial Canadian and US payroll processes for Mircom. All payroll activities are completed in adherence to established internal controls, relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and input bi-weekly payrolls for salaried and hourly employees, including taxable benefits, bonus payments, commissions and other special payments as required in accordance with established company practices and procedures
  • Process other full cycle payroll activities and benefits administration (such as coding and processing information on hires, transfers, leaves, terminations, and wage adjustments)
  • Process benefit enrollments and relevant deductions
  • Ensure all enrolment information is updated with respect to employee terminations, changes in salary or status
  • Communication with employees and management
  • Monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc reporting
  • Work with HR Manager on system upgrades, testing, automation of manual processes as well as continuous improvements and efficiencies
  • Performs other duties as required

Accountabilities:

  • Process salaried/hourly, and US Sales payrolls, perform payroll balance routines, and calculate/process manual payments as required. Respond to departmental and employees’ queries.
  • Provide information and reports such as earnings, pension contributions, benefits premiums, for internal and external purposes (RRSP/benefits providers and auditors) as required by extracting data from the Payroll system.
  • Produce year-end government forms such as T4, T4A, T2200.
  • Prepare month-end accruals, account reconciliation’s, payroll journal entries, preparation and remittance of various government forms (i.e. ROE, T4, T4A) for salaried/hourly and US payroll.
  • Administer remittance of payments and contributions for organizations such as WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board) and RRSP/benefits
  • Perform calculations and analysis in accordance with provincial Employment Standard laws for employment termination severance payments.
  • Act as the administrator for the payroll application generate ROE, maintain Benefits, RRSP enrolments with approvals accordingly.
  • Employee Expenses reimbursement administration using SAP Concur.
  • Provide support to other Payroll Administrator by assisting with resolving issues regarding payroll as required.
  • Perform clerical duties such as maintaining employee payroll files

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Ability to deal with confidential information with high degree of professionalism
  • Knowledgeable of Canadian and US payroll legislation and Employment Standards Act
  • Experience with ADP-Ezlabor, pay@work, Workforce Now and Paychex is preferred
  • 3 to 5 years experience in full payroll cycles
  • University degree
  • Certification with the Canadian Payroll Association
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and other computer skills
  • Basic accounting skills
  • Work well under pressure and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (English)
