About Mircom Montreal: 

Mircom’s Montreal, QC branch is the company’s second largest location in Canada with more than 30 employees housed in a 25,000 square foot facility that houses diverse functions of the business including sales, marketing, distribution, research and development, and customer support.  The Operations Manager (Montreal) will be an integral part of the development of a manufacturing center of excellence in our Montreal location in 2021.

Summary:

Under the supervision of the VP of Global Operations, the Operations Manager (Montreal) will organize, plan, direct and control all the requirements for Production, Shipping and Receiving, Equipment Maintenance, Inventory, Supply Chain (Procurement) and Quality Control at our Montreal location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hires, supervises, disciplines, evaluates and discharges the employees of all the plant under his (her) responsibility.
  • Supervises production planning and work schedules and timetables.
  • Supervises the planning of various projects and does the follow-up with appropriate personnel
  • Supervises the planning of the equipment maintenance (preventive maintenance, breaks, etc.) as well as building maintenance.
  • Makes sure that all activities at the plant adhere to the Quality Management System (ISO 9001) and Environmental Management System (ISO14001) standards and has the appropriate improvements done, when required.
  • Must make sure that the plant adheres to occupational appropriate health and safety standards, any accident investigations and analyses are being done in due time, and that corrective actions are being taken immediately
  • Must meet the objectives set by the Corporation, such as the % of variation (error) in the inventories, the number of days required to deliver the merchandise ordered, reducing the % of absence, accidents, retention, cost, quality, targets and performance KPI. 
  • Effectively Communicates the deliverables to his/her staff and all employees.
  • Prepares and submits various verbal or written reports to the Corporation and keeps it informed, in a general manner, of all activities.
  • Must plan and execute a yearly budget and make sure to meet it.
  • Keeps all the necessary statistics in order to revise the plants' activities.
  • Maintains a continuous contact with the Corporation in order to solve various problems that may affect operations.
  • Encourages employees to work in a safe manner and to respect applicable Health and Safety laws and regulations through regular meetings with the employees.
  • Drives Managers and Supervisors to develop and promote a safe workplace with their employees in order to mobilize them for this purpose.
  • Supports and analyses the recommendations from the Health and Security Committee and answers them in a timely manner.

Requirements and Skills: 

  • Bachelor degree in an appropriate discipline (in an engineering discipline, an asset) and 10 year experience in a similar organizational context
  • Member of a Professional Engineering Associate is an asset
  • Very good knowledge of office software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Very good knowledge of ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics AX
  • Leadership and good interpersonal relationships
  • Knowledge of distribution and storage logistics, quality standards, production planning and buying process
