English to French – Translator/Writer (Summer Contract/Internship)

Job Summary:

The R&D department is looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented junior technical writer. The candidate must be fluent in French and English to join our team. Working closely with hardware and technical support engineers, software developers and key stakeholders, the technical writer will research, create, edit and maintain technical documentation in French for external customers. The Technical Writer will work in a dynamic environment producing hardware and software user and administration manuals, marketing brochures and technical specifications.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with a positive attitude and be used to working under the pressure of daily deadlines.

What You Need To Be Successful: 

 - College degree or experience in a relevant field (strong preference for engineering, science or technical training).

- Fluent written and spoken French and English

- Strong organizational and communication skills, and able to work well with managers, developers and engineers in a team-oriented environment.

- Strong planning, research and writing skills with the ability to work on multiple technical projects.

- Strong technical skills, with a demonstrated ability to understand and document complex software, hardware and mechanical designs.

Prefered Skills:

- Solid experience with FrameMaker, Adobe product suite, Visio and help system tools.

- 1 to 3 years' experience in technical writing (outstanding recent graduates will also be considered)

- CAD or 3D modeling skills ideal.

- Proficiency in revision control systems such as SharePoint.

To be eligible for this position, you must have:

- Immediate availability until the end of August

- Ability to work in the office twice a week in Pointe-Claire
