Summary: 

The PARMI Laser AOI Inspection Operator is responsible for verifying Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) results generated by the PARMI inspection system and ensuring the quality of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs). The operator reviews suspected defects identified by the machine, performs occasional manual inspections, and assists with board rework and assembly activities when required. This position plays a critical role in maintaining product quality and compliance with IPC standards. This is a full time role, evening shift, based in Vaughan, ON.

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify automated PARMI AOI inspection results for suspected defects, including solder bridges, opens, skewed components, insufficient solder, and other assembly defects.
• Review and disposition machine-generated defect calls to determine acceptance or rejection.
• Perform manual visual inspections when required.
• Conduct minor repairs and touch-ups on post-wave soldered circuit boards and components.
• Hand solder electronic components onto PCB assemblies as needed.
• Clip component leads from electronic circuit boards when required.
• Use hand tools and torque drivers for assembly-related operations.
• Ensure manufacturing quantities and product labels are accurate and properly applied.
• Maintain production records and quality documentation as required.
• Follow IPC workmanship standards and manufacturing procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and quality objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the PCB Supervisor.

Requirements and Skills: 

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems, preferably PARMI equipment.
• Knowledge of IPC-A-610 Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies.
• Knowledge of IPC J-STD-001 requirements.
• Experience in electronics manufacturing, SMT, or PCB assembly environments.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Basic computer skills and ability to navigate AOI inspection software.
• Knowledge of electronic components and PCB assembly processes is an asset.
• Ability to identify manufacturing defects and quality issues.
• Good attention to detail and strong visual inspection skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Ability to sit for extended periods while reviewing AOI inspection results.
• Occasionally lift and carry materials up to 25 lbs (11 kg).
• Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions as required.
• Visual acuity sufficient to inspect electronic assemblies and identify defects.
