Summary:

Reporting to the VP of Marketing and Product Management, the Marketing Communications Specialist is a subject matter expert who will take the lead on creating strategic plans to increase brand awareness and writing copy for a variety of marketing tools and PR opportunities.

As a key member of the Marketing Communications Team, the successful candidate will interact regularly with senior leaders and the Company owners. The role requires a highly organized and motivated individual with excellent verbal and written skills, creativity, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate written content, edit and proofread documents targeting both internal and external audiences. This includes: MarCom-related company announcements, product bulletins, social media, internal/external newsletters, print and digital ads, sales collateral, customer email blasts, case studies, blogs, whitepapers, press releases and media pitches.
  • Maximize PR opportunities within the Fire, Life Safety, Security and Communications industry with the objective of increasing and strengthening Company brand awareness.
  • Create new and update existing media contact list for organic PR outreach
  • Collaborate with Digital Marketing Specialist on the creation and execution of an integrated digital media strategy, including digital advertising, email marketing campaigns, social media strategy.
  • Lead the development of a Marketing Communications Plan and assist with budgeting
  • Lead the development and execution of communications plans for various campaigns, including product launches, trade shows, internal and external events, award wins
  • Assist in planning internal and external events
  • Develop strategic marketing plans aimed at increasing brand awareness
  • Ensure consistency of branding and messaging
  • Assist with the development of a Content Strategy Roadmap leveraging Subject Matter Experts
  • Fashion a variety of ideas and proposals to effectively market goods
  • Work directly with other departments to thoroughly complete all necessary tasks
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements and Skills: 

  • 2+ years of experience in Communications, Copywriting, PR, or Advertising
  • University Degree, preferably in English, Communications or Marketing. Post-secondary degree in Communications/PR/Marketing is also an asset
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues and third parties
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
  • Must be social media and web-savvy
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Knowledge of Photoshop and Pardot is an asset
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve a common goal
  • Ability to write clear, concise reports and documentation
  • Strong oral communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to eliminate obstacles through creativity and adaptability
  • Previous copywriting experience in the technology/consumer electronics sector would be a definite asset
