Shift Time:

Day Shift (7:00am to 3:30pm) 

Summary:

We are a leading manufacturer specializing in the production and assembly of critical fire safety equipment. Our product manufactured at this facility includes smoke detectors, fire alarm speakers, NEC devices, sounder bases, and duct detectors, all of which play a vital role in safeguarding lives and properties. The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing and assembly processes within the facility. They ensure production runs efficiently and meets quality standards while adhering to schedules. Furthermore, the Production Manager will contribute to the success of the Mircom Group of Companies by directing the production team to meet customer needs and achieve standards related to cost, line efficiencies, waste, safety and productivity. The role is situated out of our Pointe Claire facility in Montreal, Quebec. Candidates should reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the facility.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Leadership & ownership role to develop, implement and improve manufacturing assembly methods within a Lean manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the production process.
  • Monitor production schedules and adjust as necessary to meet customer demand and delivery deadlines.
  • Planning and organizing production schedules for the production employees by creating and maintaining work instructions and Manufacturing Orders.
  • To identify and implement cost reduction opportunities through process, component and finished goods design.
  • Drive to establishing efficiency, work labor standards and perform process time studies when appropriate and/or required.
  • Lead and drive the process of NPI in manufacturing by assisting engineering design department with electronic design and methods (SMT and Through Hole assembly, Testing and Final Assembly, DFT and DFM) to ultimately provide a high quality product while reducing waste and overall improve the efficiencies and lead times.
  • Take leadership in selection and purchase of production equipment and installations
  • Lead the process with operational problems affecting production and dealing with them in a systematic and methodical manner
  • Provide manufacturing data required for operations.
  • Liaising with suppliers and R/D department.
  • Hiring, training and supervising staff.
  • Lead and mentor production staff, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.
  • Implement and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve production performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of health and safety in manufacturing by training, incorporate safety awareness, encourage communications regarding safety concerns and enforce safety protocols.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Industrial or Business is an asset
  • College Diploma or equivalency will be considered 
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision, and yet be able to function well in a team environment.
  • Electronic Production Management experience is an asset
  • Certified Lean or Six Sigma Green Belt, with minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Manufacturing Environment using Lean methods
  • Excellent organization, time management and leadership skills
  • Good knowledge Microsoft Office suite (excel, word, others)
  • Bilingual with excellent communication skills (required)
  • Organized and self-motivated team player
  • Reside in the vicinity of Montreal
